How Coupon Stacking Works

Coupon stacking is the practice of layering multiple discounts on a single purchase. The key insight is that each layer of savings is applied sequentially — the coupon applies to the already-discounted sale price, and cashback applies to the final checkout amount.

For example, a $100 item with a 30% sale, 15% coupon, 5% cashback, and 2% credit card rewards doesn't give you 52% off. Instead, each discount applies to the running total: $100 → $70 (sale) → $59.50 (coupon) → $56.53 effective (after cashback and rewards). That's 43.5% total savings — still excellent!

Not all retailers allow coupon stacking, but many do. Stores like Kohl's, Target, and CVS are known for being stacking-friendly. Always check the fine print on coupon codes to see if they can be combined with other offers.
